19th century
Beginning of a family epic
Farther from the origins of the Maison Rannou-Métivier, we find the Sieur Louis Perrin, a confectioner in Montmorillon in the 1800s. In 1872, the sisters Chartier Marie-Rose and Marie-Louise, relatives of Louis, continued the family tradition.
The history of our House begins in the back shop of these two ladies, where Marie, our great-great-grandmother, a pastry chef with fairy fingers, worked, as many customers liked to say. In 1900, Marie perpetuated the manufacture of macaroons alone after the death of the last sister Chartier.
1920
Birth of the brand Rannou Métivier
From Marie's marriage with Auguste Métivier was born in 1920, a little Madeleine, a name conducive to a beautiful future...
The Rannou-Métivier brand was born the same year from the union of their two names. The young couple made known to the whole of France the Macaron de Montmorillon through many salons, during which he was awarded many awards.
In 1924, they opened a shop in the heart of Montmorillon, which remains the historic headquarters of the house.
1944
3rd generation
The third generation began in 1944 with Hélène, the only daughter of Madeleine and Fernand. She married Pierre Bertrand, a trained cook. A new lease of life is being given with the diversification of products and the opening of new points of sale. In 1952, Rannou-Métivier created a shop in Poitiers.
